U.S. Aerospace and Defense Market Projected to Reach US$300 billion in 2015

A new market research report of Global Industry Analysts, a market research firm, forecasts:

“United States is by far is the second largest market with an estimated share of about 27%. Together, Europe and the US account for more than 80% of the world’s aerospace and defense revenues. Aircraft products and services represents the largest product segment and is projected to exceed US$350 billion by the year 2014. Through 2015, demand for MRO services worldwide is expected to register handsome growth primarily fueled by robust expansion in developing and emerging markets in Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe. The market for C4ISR is forecast to grow at a robust pace of 6.9% through 2010 while the market for missiles is projected to register a CAGR of 6.5%. The space equipment market is estimated at about US$ 61.2 billion in 2008.”

Jane’s expectations are less optimistic:
“Jane’s expects military spending in the world’s largest market - the US - to fall by USD75 billion in real terms by 2010 from its 2008 peak of USD696 billion. That leaner times have come after a boom that saw global expenditure swell from USD1.114 trillion in FY02 to USD1.4 trillion this year - helping to push global defence and aerospace revenues from USD427 billion in 2004 to USD804 billion in 2007 - offers little comfort.”
