US DOD Will Spend $17 Bln for UAV Systems in 2008-2013

According to the Government Accountability Office in its November 2008 report on Unmanned Aircraft Systems, the US Department of Defense plans to spend more than $17 billion from 2008 to 2013 for UAV systems with expanded and new capabilities, and it reprogrammed about $1.3 billion in 2008 funds with congressional approval to increase ISR capabilities, including unmanned aerial systems, to support ongoing operations.
